Way back in 2015, I took the Computer Graphics Preliminary exam at UC-Berkeley. The gist of the exam is simple: know everything inside The Fundamentals of Computer Graphics by Marschner et al.. Tiger not withstanding, I found this an intimidating task.
I chose to take the test a second time because I had soooo much fun the first (and also because I didn’t pass the first time).
I’d just learned about the concept of spaced repetition as a learning strategy. Equipped with the wonderful Anki software and my custom UC-Berkeley Computer Graphics Preliminary Exam study deck, I passed the second time!
I now know all of computer graphics. All of it. And I even still think Tigers are cool.
I credit much of my success to the deck creation process. That said, a new grad student just reached out to me seven years later asking for access to my Anki deck. To make it easier for any future learners of all graphics knowledge, here’s my deck.
Please let me know if there are any errors or revisions that should be made.
Best of luck!
